Macleay’s Spectres (Extatosoma tiaratum), also known as Giant Prickly Stick Insects or Spiny Leaf Insects, are native to the forests of Australia, particularly Queensland and New South Wales. These masters of disguise thrive in warm, humid environments where they mimic dried leaves and twigs to avoid predators. During the day, they remain still and well-camouflaged, becoming active at night to feed.
🐛 What You’ll Receive
Each order includes six carefully packaged stick insect eggs, cushioned to ensure safe arrival. We also include a brief overview of hatching guidance — and you can find the full care instructions under the Attachments tab on this page.
Please note: not all eggs may hatch successfully, and hatching times can vary widely depending on species and environmental conditions. Patience is key when working with stick insect eggs!

To ensure your eggs arrive safely and in the best possible condition:
We only post on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to avoid parcels getting held in sorting offices over the weekend.
Orders will not be dispatched if overnight temperatures are forecast to drop below -4°C, to protect the viability of the eggs.
If there's a delay due to weather, we’ll keep you updated via email.
